Marketing

The 470 Breeze is marketed by Haines Hunter as a value conscious option for both those who thought the dream of owing their own boat was out of reach, and also those who are seeking a well built easily managed allrounder.

It combines the same rigorous quality you would expect from a Haines Hunter, the difference is only in the inclusions. So, as the list of inclusions increases or decreases, so does the price.

Our thoughts

Like our tow vehicle, a Mitsubishi Pajero, Haines Hunter boats are in our opinion better built, and better backed than most; it's very important as the last thing you want are customer service problems and hassles after a purchase.

In this instance, we were seeking a vessel small enough to be launched, retrieved and operated by one person, with the ability to transport all of our film gear and a camera crew - preferable keeping everything and everyone safe and dry.

We also run a large 6.5m film boat, "Media 7", and although running a big boat is sometimes of benefit, everything is relative and we find like so many people that ease of use equates to more use.

As we also have a news response role with Channel 7 Queensland, some jobs are over so quickly, that they don't warrant the launching of the large boat, while others have us working for long periods in either direct sunlight, wind, rain or a combination for which the Haines Hunter with bimini, front and side clears is ideal.

So in this instance, we were seeking the smallest boat capable of handling our tasks, and what we found after a great deal of research and water testing was the Haines Hunter 470 Breeze. Arguably the best looking, best built, best value and most capable boat of its size in the marketplace today; She also comes standard with a 7 year structural warranty - as with any boat in the Haines Hunter range.

The boat (our new boat) as tested in the associated video is fitted with a 90hp Evinrude E-Tec Outboard, the outboard had less than 20 minutes running time prior to this footage being acquired, and as you can see we're not taking it easy on the outboard. The fact is, E-Tec's have no run in period like other outboards, nor do they have scheduled servicing requirements for three years, so from the first second you hit the water, you can fully utilise your new purchase as opposed to having run-in restrictions placed upon the use of your new boat for hours upon hours.

It's now the second E-Tec we're running, the other being a 175hp, and we're delighted with them both and in our choice of this product.
