We almost went aluminium, but a test run in a Cox Craft Reef Runner left absolutely no doubt in my mind that its the material I should stick with - especially with level 5 water restrictions now in force on the Gold Coast and in many other areas around the country making properly washing boats with town water illegal.

Fiberglass is durable, easy to repair, soft riding and quieter than any aluminium boat ever will be. The Reef Runner in particular is an extremely practical boat, ideally suited to the blue water fishermen on a budget. The deep v hull slices throuogh the water with ease, while the extremely deep freeboard, tow recesses and grab rails provide a great sense of security for occupants.

Although the sexy looking Rum Runner II was appealy for a number of reasons, our promimity to water make my own bed more appealing than overnighting on the water, so in this instance we chose the practical huge cockpit area of the Reef Runner over the full length bunks of the Rum Runner II.

The guys at Cox Craft are literally working around the clock to build our new boat within the time frame previously provided to another manufacturer, while maintaining the build quality their boats are increasingly renowned for.
